It takes a little bit more finesse to search engine optimize (SEO) your WordPress blog compared to a regular website. But fortunately, the web being a particularly wonderful place, there are answers out there to make it a less painful and inexpensive experience.
In addition to checking out WordPress’s page on SEO at their codex, you should also check out webmaster toolkit which is a fantastic search engine optimization tools and resources website. Some tools the site has are: Keyword Research Tool, Keyword Analysis Tool, Search Position Checker, Link Popularity Checker, and one of my personal favorites to see what your website looks like to search engines, a Search Engine Simulator.
Also, another fabulous resource for search engine optimizing your WordPress blog is Jim Westergreen’s “SEO for WordPress – The Complete Guide” web page. Jim gives you a 4 step guide on optimizing your blog and ranking well with Google.
One other website you may want to check out is Mytype.com’s FREE SEO Blog Templates. Here you can download WordPress blogs that are already search engine optimized with meta info set up and so forth. Mytype.com also has a guide to SEOing your blog and a list of top SEO WordPress plugins.
